The Landmark, St Leonards

Client: Landmark

Architect: A+ Design Group & Warren and Mahoney

Project Status: Completed

The Landmark, located in the lower north shore suburb of St Leonards, enjoys expansive vistas of the world-renowned Sydney harbour and CBD skyline. One of the tallest towers north of the CBD at 43 storeys, the complex comprises a mixed-use commercial, retail and residential development, accommodating 414 luxury apartments.

The undulating organic form of the tower has been inspired by the harbour’s shifting moods and natural landscape. Predominately glass in materiality, it offers a unique beauty to the traditional heavy masonry rectilinear towers that currently dominate the St Leonard’s skyline.

The Landmark’s proximity to the CBD, transport, entertainment precincts and major dining venues encourage a true ‘live, work, play lifestyle’ that is only found in major cities around the world and sets a precedent for integrated urban design and social uplift.

Muse, Neutral Bay

Client: Helm

Architect: Peter Conley & Associates

Project Status: Completed

Taking up the location of the old Alberts, Muse taps into the inspirational and creative vibe of this historic spot that helped launch the careers of many Australian bands including AC/DC and The Easybeats.

This contemporary collection of just 23 premium quality homes has been cleverly designed with owner-occupiers in mind. Architects PCA have used the building’s enviable corner position wonderfully by implementing a series of curved architectural lines. The use of modern materials and a fresh contrasting exterior colour palette complement this modern approach while retaining a cool art deco flavour.

The grandeur of the impressive 15-meter-high atrium decked out with living walls of greenery will be impressive to owners and friends. Opening up from the entrance foyer, this is the kind of welcome that you would love to come home to and provides a tranquil spot to relax, meet friends, and transition from the apartments to the outside world.

Street-level boutique retail outlets connect these stylish apartments with the neighbourhood cultivating that sense of community and familiarity you expect on the Lower North Shore.

South Village, Kirrawee

Client: Deicorp

Architect: Turner Studio

Project Status: Completed

South Village is a recently completed mixed-use development situated at the Kirrawee Brick Pit in southern Sydney by Deicorp. It contains approximately 750 apartments, 14,000m² of commercial and retail floor space for 36 shops and dining precinct, and a 9,000m² park integrating residual portions of critically endangered Sydney Turpentine-Ironbark Forest.

The master plan organises the site with an internal network of vehicular and pedestrian streets with ground floor retail and apartments above. A library and community centre are also part of South Village, bringing a civic presence and strengthening the connection with the adjacent village centre and railway station.

Waterfall, Waterloo

Client: Crown Group

Architect: SJB

Project Status: Completed

Three towers climbing eight storeys high are connected by long open-air walkways, interspersed with bridges at ideal viewing points. At the northeast corner lies the 21-storey signature tower, which rises elegantly above the lush greenery below. Together, these four interconnected buildings house 331 residential apartments along with Crown Group’s signature resort-style amenities and a selection of retail outlets on the ground floor.

The development features a specially commissioned public artwork by installation artist Mika Utzon Popov (grandson of Sydney Opera House architect, Jorn Utzon). The grid of hand-sculpted concrete panels has been installed across the southern entry wall on building B, facing O’Dea Avenue. The artwork is designed to allow the façade to respond to light and weather throughout the day and night.

Metro Residences, Chatswood

Client: Galileo

Architect: Cox Richardson

Project Status: Completed

Metro Residences is Sydney’s leading transit-orientated development in Chatswood. The Metro residences comprise 3 separate apartment towers of 553 apartments built over the Chatswood Transport Interchange. The tall and slender buildings, ranging from 27 to 40-storeys with some 550 apartments, also house a landscaped podium and community facilities.

The towers express the metropolitan rail network, with symbolic connections to the north, south and west – articulated by the blade roof features that crown the three buildings. These blades provide a city-wide signal to express the broader rail network available to residents and the public.

The tower heights and their distinct profile are a focal point in the centre of Chatswood and symbolise the transportation crossroad of a newly connected city centre.

This scheme sits within a stratum of the Chatswood Transport Interchange BMC. It consists of 6 stratums in the largest BMC, and 3 stratums in the ‘inner’ BMC called a Residential Lot Committee. The scheme is technically unique and has been managed by Netstrata since 2015.
