Lil Peep’s exact cause of death has been confirmed to have been an overdose on fentanyl and Xanax, the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner confirms to Pitchfork. The rapper—born Gustav Åhr—died at the age of 21 on November 15. The following day, the medical examiner assigned to the case stated the suspected cause of death was a drug overdose, but said the full toxicology report would take six to eight weeks to complete. The medical examiner’s office has certified the “manner of death” as “accidental.” Lil Peep was found in Tucson, Ariz. where he was scheduled to perform as part of his tour behind his debut album, Come Over When You’re Sober (Part One). UPDATE (12/11 11:48 a.m. ET): The full toxicology report, reviewed by Pitchfork, has revealed more details about the substances present in Lil Peep’s body at the time of his death. In addition to Xanax and fentanyl, Peep tested positive for painkillers and tranquilizers including benzodiazepines and tramadol, as well as cocaine and marijuana. He tested negative for alcohol.
