Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) provides oversight of pilot competence by leveraging industry expertise and commitments to safety.
The Approved Check Pilot (ACP) and Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) facilitate the majority of onsite checks and evaluations of pilots operating under the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), Part VII – Commercial Air Services.
TCAA oversees all checks and evaluations done through the programs, and continually monitors ACPs and AQP Evaluators.
ACPs conduct pilot proficiency checks (PPC) and line checks. They may also provide limited onsite licensing services.
To find out how to qualify as an ACP and conduct checks, consult the:
ACPs receive training from providers authorized by Transport Canada’s Civil Aviation, once their initial application has been approved. For more information, read about the ACP Course.
The AQP is a voluntary program in which certain Canadian air operators may participate. AQP Evaluators (AQPEs) are authorized to conduct several types of validations and evaluations and may also provide limited onsite licensing services.
To find out how to qualify as an AQP and provide services, consult the AQP Evaluator Manual (TP 14672).
The ACP/AQP Bulletins communicate important changes in policy and procedures.
